Mark Kieswetter: A Tribute and Celebration of Life

 — (EDT, UTC-04) — (EDT, UTC-04)

Hugh's Room Live, 296 Broadview Avenue, Toronto

Mark Kieswetter, who passed away from a very rare and debilitating illness on April 21st, 2025, was a beloved member of the music community. His legacy goes well beyond his compositions, his recordings, his musical arrangements, and his outsized influence on younger musicians.

And so, on September 23rd, 2025, we will join together to celebrate this legacy the best way we know how: with a fantastic concert featuring many of those who worked closely with Mark over his years in Toronto.

All of the performers are donating their time and talents, and all of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Euterpe (www.musicisthekey.org) so that Mark’s passion for music education, especially for underserved communities, can continue his generous spirit posthumously. Some of the performers who have confirmed are listed below, but there are many more to come!... It's going to be a fantastic evening.

West End Jazz Series - Here's to Life: Remembering Shirley Horn

 —  —

Le Dome Banquet Hall, 1173 North Service Rd E, Oakville

After two very successful seasons, West End Jazz moved to a new venue, the "Le Dome." It has better acoustics, room for us to grow, great food but still the same high quality of music that our audience is accustomed to.

The third show of the season will be dedicated to Shirley Horn, an American jazz singer and pianist. She was most noted for her ability to accompany herself with nearly incomparable independence and ability on the piano.

The musical director and featured vocalist of this event will be June Garber. Very few contemporary jazz singers can match Shirley Horn's unmistakable voice than Ms. Garber. To make the program more complete, June will be joined - as a special guest - by Peter Campbell, who recently released a very popular album "Loving You: Celebrating Shirley Horn." You do not want to miss this one.
